Home Apothecary Checklist

Not just another pretty infographic…

The Home Apothecary Checklist was designed by herbalists, and is a solid place to begin. It will give folks plenty to do while waiting for Alchemy of Herbs to arrive in the mail.

Rosalee and I compared notes on which herbs we ALWAYS have in our kitchens. Rosalee then asked her herbalist friends on Facebook. It was amazing how similar everyone’s replies were. We distilled the top 16, wrote down the top reasons we use them, and how much to keep on hand. Finally, we added a “quick remedy,” which for many of the herbs are the reasons we keep them in our kitchens in the first place. These are some of our best herbal kitchen secrets.

We also included a chai recipe, as it is the tea both of our households make often. It has many uses, and is a healing tea that even kids love. Next, we thought of the top 4 “pre-prepared” remedies that we always have on hand and travel with. We then provide a supplies list those who want to build an herbal kitchen.

Finally, we took every herb on this checklist, and put them in “common ailment” categories. Now, this last page was designed to show you that herbs have multiple uses, and that you should never pigeonhole them. An example would be thinking that chamomile is only used to help you sleep. We also wanted put some questions in your mind and to further inspire you to seek information on how to use these herbs.

This 7 page checklist alone is enough to get you started building your new Kitchen Apothecary. Our quick remedies are simple and safe.

You learn how to use herbs by having experiences with them. That’s the simple secret. This checklist is a wonderful start, as are the videos we include on this site. However, when you receive your copy of Alchemy of Herbs, it will open up an exciting new world.
